How do you tame the breakfast monster when you have to travel early in the morning?
During my Big 5 consulting days (these days, more like Big 3!), I spent a LOT of time on the road. Usually, I had to be on the first plane, train or automobile (read: 6AM or earlier) in order to get to the client site on time. I don't know about you, but I didn't relish the idea of scarfing down eggs benny or a full stack of pancakes at 4:00AM before heading out the door! Besides, skipping the breakfast routine meant at least two more shots at the snooze button and that was...everything.
But it would come back to bite me a couple of hours later, when I would be on the plane and the breakfast cart came around with those rehydrated eggs accompanied by some 'mystery' meat. I'd pass on that too, leaving me with pretzels and a cookie to tide me over until lunch or later.
Early on in my granola-making ventures, I found myself packing a little baggie with granola to bring on the plane. I would grab a yogurt at the airport if I didn't have one at home, and voilá! Breakfast problem solved and snoozing preserved :) If you're anything like me, you'll be happy to know that I've upgraded from sandwich bags and you can now get any of our granola blends in travel-friendly, single servings
that are TSA-friendly of course.
