About Flatbush Candle Company

Home Is a Feeling. We Put It in a Candle.

My name is Tracey Solomon, and I've been a Brooklynite by choice for over 20 years.

I was born in Canada, raised with Trinidadian roots, and when I found myself in Flatbush, something shifted. The rhythm of the neighborhood, the mix of cultures, the sounds and smells drifting out of windows and down sidewalks — it felt like belonging. Not a place I was from, but a place that was mine. I've never looked back.

It Started in the Kitchen

Five years ago, I was deep in the middle of making granola when the warming spices of cinnamon and ginger, coupled with floral cardamom notes and sweet vanilla filled my senses and took me right back to baking with my sister and Mom during the holidays. And that's when it hit me: this smell is a feeling. It was comfort. It was love. It was exactly the kind of thing I wanted to hold onto.

That instinct became Flatbush Candle Company.

My first candles were inspired directly by the granolas I was already making. Fall Back captures that cozy, amber-hued feeling of autumn spice. Chai Time is the warmth of a slow morning, a steaming mug, nowhere you have to be just yet. People got it immediately. They'd light one and say, this smells like something I remember. That was all I needed to keep going.

Brooklyn in Every Burn

As word spread, so did my inspiration. I started looking outward — to the blocks I've walked, the corners I love, the neighborhoods that make New York what it is. That became our Neighborhood Collection: a series of candles that each try to capture the essence of a Brooklyn place. The energy, the history, the feeling of being there.

Every scent is an invitation. Light one and land somewhere that makes you happy.

What We're Really About

I believe places hold power. The right corner, the right kitchen, the right moment — they become part of you. And I believe scent is one of the fastest ways back to those moments when life felt full, safe, and good.

Flatbush Candle Company isn't just about what smells nice. It's about helping you lock in the memories of places and times that bring you joy — and giving you something tangible to carry that feeling forward.

Every candle is made with care, and every scent is chosen with intention.

We're so glad you're here.
